LAUNCH X431 DIAGUN V REVIEW ANDROID
The hardware is simply an android phone with a really different case holding the Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. Ok so this product has some ups and downs but the positives far outweigh the negatives. I still think the hardware could be improved but if you're buying something else you're paying too much. Basically it has all of the same tests the Autel does and when I have a few minutes to poke around in the tool on different cars I go through the menus and see what other functions are listed and let me tell you this tool does so much for $500ish dollars if it broke tomorrow I'd buy another one because I don't know of anything out there that will do this much stuff for this little money. Update: After close to 3 months of use I can say this scanner has more than paid for itself and it has capabilities almost exactly like my $2800 Autel. I just noticed also That there is a Diagun X431 V model that is the same size but with newer operating system and larger memory. Battery life is kind of weak have to be aware and keep it charged up.īecause of the increased price, if I had to purchase another Launch product, I would probably choose something with a larger display such as the Diagun x431 V Pro. I believe there have been some slight internal improvements over the past two years on newer versions of the Diagun IV such as increased memory. I notice the price has increased about $130 since I purchased mine in Sept 2018. It has been able to do a few things that our Autel Maxisys 908 could not perform on some vehicles. It has paid for itself many times over and is my go-to scanner in the shop. I've been using this scanner professionally almost two years. If my opinion changes, I will do an update.

Overall, for the cost of around $520, I think this Launch scanner is worth its keep due to its depth and capabilities, along with the 2 year advertised software updates. Not sure if TPMS is buried somewhere in either the body or chassis system access so I need to spend some more time with it.Īnother nice feature is the "beeping" sound made when you end a scanning session to remind you to remove the VCI.

However, I discovered this scanner could not access the TPMS system on this vehicle nothing shown during full system scan nor manual system list of modules. I was then able to complete a full system scan and do some bidirectional control tests in the body and chassis areas with no problems found. Also, for some reason, it did not auto detect the VIN of this vehicle and I was forced to select from a list of different Toyota DLC configurations to make connection. First of all, the navigation is not as refined as on other scanners, including the Autel 908. I got a chance to play around with it on a 2007 Camry XLE, 3.5V6 in the shop today to see its capabilities.

Also, there was a firmware update that was automatically done immediately after I connected to the first vehicle. The date code on the scanner box showed April, 2017, so there are plenty of updates that need to be completed to get this operating at the latest software. I bought this based on several Youtube techs showing its use and capabilities in the short time they have owned it.Īfter receiving it, I registered it on line and did all the updates took about 45 minutes. I have also used an Autel Maxisys 908 some in the shop. I have plenty of experience with Snapon and OTC scanners and have gotten accustomed to their layout and navigation.
